Post image for New Material Brings More Flexibility To 3D Printing
    from webpronews.com
Most 3D printed objects are made out of hard plastic. While its great for some projects, others require a material with more elasticity. There’s already a few flexible materials on the market, but one 3D printing company thinks it has the best flexible material yet.
Materialise announced last week the launch of a new material called TPU 92A-1. The material is extremely flexible and can be used to create a variety of innovate objects:

The material’s application in fashion has already been explored as Materialise made a dress out of TPU 92A-1 earlier this year:

Cyprus Banks - Have $5Billion by Monday or Be Shut Down...with all bank accounts shut down to the public

Cyprus bank insolvency crisis quickly escalating; may set off EU bankageddon

    Friday, March 22, 2013
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) As you may have suspected, there's far more to the Cyprus bank crisis story than meets the eye. It turns out the shutdown of Cypriot banks has caused a large-scale financial shutdown of the Russian government which uses Cyprus banks for most transactions.

On top of that, the EU central bank (ECB) has now issued an ultimatum that threatens to revoke all financial support and crash the Cypriot banks if they can't come up with 5.8 billion Euros by Monday. Reuters reports:

The European Central Bank, which has kept Cyprus's banks operating with a liquidity lifeline, said the government had until Monday to get a deal in place, or funds would be cut off - putting not just the Cypriot economy in jeopardy but billions of euros held on the island by foreigners, notably from Russia.

USA Today reports, "If it does not find a way by Monday, the European Central Bank said it will cut off emergency support to the banks, letting them collapse. That would throw the country into financial chaos and, ultimately, cause it to leave the eurozone, with unpredictable consequences for the region."

Until then, the banks remain closed, and everybody knows the minute they open, every account holder will immediately transfer their money out of the banks, causing a near-instant bank run and a collapse.

The worry across the eurozone now is that this imminent bank collapse will trigger account holders in Greece to start taking their money out of the bank, too. The Greek banking system is already in such sad shape that it only takes a very small percentage of account holders withdrawing their funds -- perhaps 5% or so -- to topple Greek banks. That's because the banks are roughly 95% leveraged with fractional reserve accounts and complex debt instruments.

Once bank runs begin in Greece, they will spread across the EU. Fear will kick in everywhere and depositors will run on the banks in Spain, Italy and even the UK. Germany is arguably in the safest position to defend against bank runs, but even its banks are unwisely leveraged beyond reasonable ratios.

We are about to witness massive wealth destruction.

It's important to understand that fractional reserve banking wealth is a fictional construct that does not exist in reality. Thus, the wealth created by fractional reserve banking is nothing more than a mirage that can be destroyed literally overnight.

Importantly -- and here's the real point nobody is talking about -- Russia may be willing to let Cypriot banks collapse and lose a lot of money itself, knowing that the aftermath of a collapse may set off a chain reaction of bank collapses across the EU.

EU authorities seem to anticipate this possibility and they are already talking about dropping Cyprus from the EU as quickly as possible. As Yahoo News reports:

The official also referred to the need to resolve the issue of Cyprus's two biggest banks, both of which are close to collapse, and mentioned the possibility of Cyprus leaving the euro zone. In the event of an exit, the official said steps needed to be taken to "ring-fence" the rest of the euro zone from the impact and to ensure there was no contagion to Greece.

"Contagion" is the right word, because if this situation doesn't get resolved very, very quickly, we may be witnessing the start of the collapse of the EU -- an outcome that would very well serve the political interests of Russia. So don't expect Russia to try to resolve any of this. It may be waiting in the wings and actually hoping to help set off a kind of "bankageddon" that, once begun, will be impossible to stop.

"FLOW" Documentary Film Exposes the Worldwide Water Crisis Few are Aware of

The Emergence of a Water Cartel

Help Pass ARTICLE 31: Clean Water is a 'Fundamental Human Right'

One of the ways you can be a “water warrior” is by helping pass Article 31, which would establish clean water as a fundamental human right

    • There is a petition proposing the addition of one more article to the 30-article Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and they need your signature. In 1948, the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were ratified by all the nations of the world. These 30 articles guaranteed a broad sweep of human rights across many human endeavors, from life to liberty to freedom of thought. Now, 60 years later, recognizing that over a billion people across the planet lack access to clean and potable water and that millions die each year as a result, it is time to add one more article to this historic declaration
    • It’s estimated that fresh, clean water can be provided to every single person on the planet for less than two cents per day, per person, which is less than is currently spent on bottled water

"In 2013, March 22, (UN)World Water Day will share the topic of Water Cooperation. Celebrated since 1993, World Water Day has grown to become one of the key dates in the UN calendar…" http://www.unwater.org/water-cooperation-2013/home/en/

Celebrating World Water Day by Reducing Water Use in the United States

    OpEdNews Op Eds

"The United States is one of the world's biggest users of water--many Americans use as much water as approximately 900 Kenyans. As a result, water resources in the U.S. are shrinking. In the last five years, there have been water shortages in almost every part of the country, including the worst drought in at least 25 years, which hit 80 percent of the country's farmland in 2012. Even worse, the damaged land won't fully recover this year, and at least 36 states are expecting local, regional, or statewide water shortages, even without drought.

"The Natural Resources Defense Council expects water scarcity to affect the American South, West, and Midwest the most. Fourteen states in these regions already have "extreme" or "high" risk of water scarcity. Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Nevada, and Texas face the most danger because they are expected to see some of the largest increases in population by 2030. Water scarcity is about more than lack of water, it's about lack of drinkable water. It is estimated that as many as 53.6 million Americans have contaminated tap water.

"But as eaters and consumers, we can profoundly reduce water waste and water consumption through the food choices we make. Recent research from the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition (BCFN) shows that a healthful diet and environmentally sustainable diet can go hand in hand.
"Here are five steps to save water in the United States:
    • Eating a little less meat. Switching from a meat-centered weekly menu to a diet rich in vegetables and grains could save 2,500 liters of water a day! And eating grass-fed and locally-raised meat, eggs, and dairy products can also save water.
    • Steam veggies instead of boiling. In general, steaming vegetables uses less water than boiling, and according to a study in the Journal of Food Quality, it is more nutritious. For example, boiling corn on the cob in a large pot may use 6-8 quarts of water, whereas steaming only uses 1-2 quarts. If you must boil, save the water for your garden, soup stock, or use it to clean pots.
    • Provide support for small-scale, family farms. Agricultural subsidies in the United States disproportionately support large-scale agribusinesses over the small-scale producers who are more likely to be engaged in sustainable food production, and may be challenged by drought or commodity price fluctuations. Changes in government support services could reduce this deficit and improve food and water security.
    • Streamline water use in home gardens. During the summer months, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that nearly 40 percent of household water is used for watering lawns and gardens. National Geographic suggests incorporating native plants into your garden that are adapted to the local climate and often require less water. Manually watering plants, instead of using automatic sprinklers, cuts water use by 33 percent, according to a report by the EPA. Consumers can also buy self-watering planters, or construct rain barrels that can save you up to 1,300 gallons of water.
    • Reduce food waste. The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization reports that nearly one third of all food produced for human consumption is wasted throughout production, storage, transportation, consumption and disposal. Learn about your food's shelf life and how long you can store food in your freezer. Other ways to reduce food waste are only buying what you plan to eat, using leftovers to create new meals or donating food you can't use to soup kitchens.
It's more important than ever that this World Water Day Americans find ways to save every drop."

Cyprus government's 'great bank robbery' of private accounts may set off bank runs across Europe

    Monday, March 18, 2013
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
    Editor of NaturalNews.com

Get ready for the announcement of "bank holidays" across the EU. A bank holiday means the bank closes its doors and refuses to allow you access to your own money. Bank holidays are the last red alert warning sign before a systemic banking system collapse. If you hear an announcement of a bank holiday at your bank, you're already too late. The only way to protect your savings is to get it out of the banks before they declare bank holidays.

ATHENS — Huddled in a nondescript basement in central Athens, a group of wildly diverse strangers work up a sweat.

They drop their heads forward, relax their shoulder muscles and start up an exercise routine, raising their hands, gently, to the sky.

They breathe in. They breathe out. And then, they unleash a burst of gut-busting, side-splitting, tear-jerking laughter that has their heads whipping back up; their bodies wobbling like giant Jack-in-the-Box surprises.

Although it was amusing, I loathed every second of it. It seemed strikingly silly and utterly awkward, making me wondering whether my compatriots were going mad.

They aren’t, though; quite the contrary, in fact.

Three years into a crippling recession that has reduced incomes here by as much as 60 percent, increased the number of suicides by 40 percent and forced 1.3 million people onto growing unemployment lines, Greeks are grappling with ways to remain sane. And while the country’s financial crisis is no laughing matter, many of them are turning to what some call a free cure to just about any ailment: laughter.  (read more....)

U.S. Spent $463M to Stockpile Drug for Smallpox Bioterror Attack --Smallpox was eradicated by 1980, and the only known remaining virus is in government laboratories in the United States and Russia. [The last vials were scheduled to be destroyed in 2002, but George W. Bush insisted on keeping them.] On May 24, 1999, the World Health Assembly retreated again, unanimously postponing variola's destruction until December 2002, to allow a range of additional, closely-monitored research on anti-smallpox pharmaceuticals. In the fall of 2001, after the September 11 disasters had brought the specter of modem terrorism to the forefront of global attention, and especially after the subsequent wave of mailed [Dick Cheney's Fort Detrick] anthrax spores had highlighted our shared vulnerability to biological terrorism in particular, the Bush Administration announced that it would not destroy the CDC variola inventory as scheduled.] 13 Mar 2013 The United States government is buying enough of a new smallpox medicine to treat two million people in the event of a bioterrorism attack, and took delivery of the first shipment of it last week. A small company, Siga Technologies, developed the drug in recent years. Whether the $463 million order is a boondoggle or a bargain depends on which expert is talking... If there were a large-scale bioterrorism attack using smallpox, health officials could move quickly, some experts say. "If we had to, we could vaccinate the entire country in three days," said Dr. William H. Foege, another leader of the smallpox eradication effort who now advises the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This vaccine does not use a syringe, but a forked pin that Dr. Foege said he could "train anyone to use in 10 minutes." In a true emergency, he argued, schoolteachers, police officers, firefighters and others would all be vaccinators.

Pandemic Flu Vax Linked to Guillain-Barre 12 Mar 2013 The vaccines used in the U.S. against the pandemic H1N1 flu were associated with a modestly increased risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome, researchers reported. A meta-analysis of data from six vaccine safety surveillance systems showed that incidence of Guillain-Barré among vaccinated people more than doubled in the few weeks after the shot, compared with a longer time period after the shot, according to Daniel Salmon, PhD, of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and colleagues. Guillain-Barré has been linked to previous vaccines, notably in the 1976 [lab-generated] swine flu outbreak, Salmon and colleagues wrote, but evidence linking seasonal vaccines to the syndrome is weak.

CDC Warns of SARS-Related Virus From Middle East --CDC: Worldwide total of 14 cases documented since April 2012 08 Mar 2013 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a new warning to state and local health officials about a virus that is related to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and appeared for the first time in September 2012. The virus is a coronavirus, which is the same family of virus as the common cold and SARS. Asia dealt with a SARS outbreak in 2003. The new virus emerged last year in the Middle East, but has since been seen in Great Britain.

How's this for newest "high-tech" - a car that can be made from a special printer that's already been invented AND printing off cars and anything else that it's told to make -- something about the 3-D printer scans an object that already exists, feeds the numbers of the scan into the printer, and the object will be re-produced as an exact copy of the original, yes--an actual object is reproduced...or you can use a computer-aided design software program and feed the numbers derived from that process into the 3-D printer, which makes a 3-D prototype object -- some dentists are using this process to make teeth that look totally natural - mechanical tools (wrench, etc.) have been reproduced and are totally functional - endless possibilities for the future!

3-D Printed Car Is as Strong as Steel, Half the Weight, and Nearing Production

Kor and his team built the three-wheel, two-passenger vehicle at RedEye, an on-demand 3-D printing facility. The printers he uses create ABS plastic via Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). The printer sprays molten polymer to build the chassis layer by microscopic layer until it arrives at the complete object. The machines are so automated that the building process they perform is known as “lights out” construction, meaning Kor uploads the design for a bumper, walk away, shut off the lights and leaves. A few hundred hours later, he’s got a bumper. The whole car – which is about 10 feet long – takes about 2,500 hours.

    Political Views About Money

March 5th just happens to be the anniversary date for a key event in the American Revolution but we don't usually think of March 5th having any significance

On This Day: The Boston Massacre

The Boston Massacre, called the Incident on King Street by the British, was an incident on March 5, 1770, in which British Army soldiers killed five civilian men and injured six others. British troops had been stationed in Boston, capital of the Province of Massachusetts Bay, since 1768 in order to protect and support crown-appointed colonial officials attempting to enforce unpopular Parliamentary legislation. Amid ongoing tense relations between the population and the soldiers, a mob formed around a British sentry, who was subjected to verbal abuse and harassment. He was eventually supported by eight additional soldiers, who were subjected to verbal threats and thrown objects. They fired into the crowd, without orders, instantly killing three people and wounding others. Two more people died later of wounds sustained in the incident.

    Story at-a-glance

    • According to a recent paper by South Dakota State University researchers, grasslands in the “Western corn belt” is being converted to grow corn and soy at a rate "comparable to deforestation rates in Brazil, Malaysia, and Indonesia”
    • This trend may have a significant impact on global climate change, and subsequently, our ability to secure our food supply long-term. According to another research paper, converting sections of Midwestern corn fields into pasture for cows could reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture by as much as 36 percent
    • The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released a report titled: "Climate Change and Agriculture in the United States." According to the report, our current agricultural system, which is dominated by corn and soy, is unsustainable in the long term. Should temperatures rise as predicted, the US could expect to see significant declines in yields by the middle of this century

    Story at-a-glance

    • Historically, food has not featured heavily in politics unless or until there was a major food safety issue. That is now changing, with the fight for labeling of genetically engineered foods leading the way as people are becoming aware that there’s something wholly unnatural in the food that we’re not being told about
    • More evidence suggests that the US federal government is not protecting our food supply and are allowing it to be used for a giant science experiment—The USDA released a final report absolving the biotech industry of contamination of non-genetically engineered (GE) seeds with their products from other fields, concluding that organic and other non-GE farmers should simply buy insurance to protect against GMO contamination
    • After the failure to pass Prop. 37 in California, the field-of-play now moves to Washington State, where the people's initiative 522, “The People's Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act,” will require food sold in retail outlets to be labeled if it contains genetically engineered ingredients
    • Vermont has also created a Right to Know GMO Campaign

Fluoride: 1 more deadly government experiment

Exclusive: Dr. Lee Hieb argues risks to your health shouldn't be mandated

Dr. Lee Hieb is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery. She is past president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, a free market medical organization.

"...My father, Martin Deakins, MD, PhD, DDS, was an early pioneer in dental research on the chemistry of teeth enamel and wrote numerous papers on the benefits of fluoride. He and his partner developed the first fluoride toothpaste – called ChildDent – but unfortunately lost the race to the patent, so I am continuing to work for a living. Ah, well. He was instrumental getting my little Iowa town to begin fluoridation of the water. So it is with great irony that I, an orthopaedic surgeon, am in the position 60 years later of trying to get that decision reversed...

"...Dr. Dean Burke, Ph.D, a co-founder of the National Cancer Institute and its head of the cytochemistry division for many years. Instead of measuring fluoride levels around the country, and instead of looking at one particular type of cancer, he and some colleagues examined overall cancer rates in cities after fluoridation.

It is worth quoting him at length: “We took the ten largest cities that had been fluoridated and compared with the ten largest cities that had not been fluoridated. The fluoridation didn’t start until 1952 to 1956 and has been continued ever since in the fluoridated group. Between 1940 and 1952 these two groups were identical, could not be distinguished on this curve. but from 1952 on, the curves have been continually widening to the point that there’s now a difference of approximately 35,000 a year. There’s no question about the data or our particular arrangement of it. The data is from government sources, which any high school student can look up and confirm. Nearly all of the fluoridation-linked cancer deaths are found to begin at the age of about 45 and then steadily increase with age. This situation is sharply different from the increased cancer deaths resulting from cigarette smoking, asbestos or hormones given to expectant mothers where a lag of 15 to 30 years is common. Increased death rates due to fluoridated water commence within a few years after initiation of fluoridation with marked continued increase thereafter.” ...

"...Dr. Albert Burgstahler, of the University of Kansas estimates the average adult daily intake today at 2-3 mg a day, at or above the “safe dose” of 1.5 to 2mg a day. An oral dose of 3 mg a day, as reported in the Canadian Medical Association Journal 50 years ago by Dr. William Costain created ill effects in every test subject – effects ranging from bladder irritation to mental disturbance...

"...In October 1944, a JAMA editorial discussing known and unknown risks of fluoridation concluded, “We cannot afford the risk of producing such serious systemic disturbances in applying what is at present a doubtful procedure intended to prevent development of dental disfigurements.” ...

"...Again, Dr. Burke was eloquent when he stated on Canadian radio, “There have been almost as many excess deaths associated with fluoridation as the sum total of all American military deaths since the founding of the USA in 1776. Now that’s an awful burden for the pro-fluoridationists to bear if they can come to see that they have been responsible for this.”

Although I think he is probably right, whether Dr. Burke’s number is totally accurate is beside the point. The moral responsibility is the same. Given the sometimes murky and fleeting nature of “truth” in science, the decision to take fluoride for dentition, or not to take fluoride should be left to the individual. Oral fluoride tablets are available, so putting it in the water is not the only option. We should work to remove it from our public water supply and to avoid going down this road again when the next bright idea comes along.
    Sorry, Dad.
